Although the original plan was to attend the launch of the Artemis 1 at the Kennedy Space Centre, my return to Florida after at least 14 years since I last visited the area, was more about having some fun with my son Erik, who has expressed some interest in an aerospace engineering career. Whether or not this comes to fruition, I couldn't think of a more inspiring place to visit than the home of space launches and the accompanying photos detail our trip there- the Artemis unfortunately was delayed to a later date, but I'm certain we'll return again someday to watch a launch. If you are ever in the area, the space park at Kennedy just outside of Titusville is well worth the trip.
Of course, there's other things than rockets to check out in Orlando, including good eats, Museum of Illusions, Disney roller coaster park and relaxing by the pool which we seemed to have for ourselves for most of the time.
The story of the Space Shuttle development is presented really well in a cinesphere which concludes with a shot of the space shuttle flying towards the audience- the lights come up, and the wall where the last image appeared opens to reveal the REAL shuttle banked in the same attitude as though captured midflight. It's really well done and the cool thing about American museums is that you can approach the vehicles much closer than others to really appreciate the size of the vehicle.
